The Dual Enrollment-HOPE program offers students in high school,
age 16 and older, the opportunity to enroll in technical courses at Atlanta Technical College
for both college and high school credits. Dual Enrollment-HOPE students may take technical
courses within a diploma program or technical certificate of credit (TCC). Once the coursework
has been completed, students will receive credit at their high school AND at Atlanta Technical
College!!!
Dual Enrollment-HOPE students are individuals who:
- Have been a legal Georgia resident for at least 1 year or an active military dependant.
- Are at least 16 years old and classified as a junior or senior
- Are on track to graduate from high school
- Have a satisfactory discipline and attendance history. NOTE: Each student must adhere to the existing high school attendance policies.
- Submit an admission application. Students participating in the Dual Enrollment-HOPE program are not required to pay the non- refundable application fee.
- Must have an appropriate placement score from ASSET, SAT or ACT. Minimal test scores include:
* ASSET Score:(Minimums for most programs are Writing: 38, Reading: 38, & Math: 35)
* SAT (Verbal: 430 and Math: 400)
* ACT (English: 18 and Math: 16)
- Complete the Hope Grant application.
- Submit required Dual Enrollment program form with the appropriate signatures from the student and the student’s parent or guardian.
- Adhere to all high school and technical college rules and regulations.
Students enrolled in the Dual Enrollment program will be eligible for the HOPE Grant.
HOPE Grant hours will count toward the HOPE cumulative hours established by the Georgia Student Finance
Commission (GSFC). Dual Enrollment courses can affect high school graduation and will affect the student’s
high school grade point average (GPA).
Note: Core academic courses are not part of the Dual Enrollment-HOPE program.

Q: Who can participate in this program?

A: Students must pass the ASSET or COMPASS placement test, submit completed paperwork, and meet the guidelines to qualify for financial aid.

A: No. The Dual Enrollment program offers career technology courses that do not compete with current

A: Credits earned can be transferred to some technical colleges in the state of Georgia and
some colleges and universities. Students must contact the college or university that they wish
to attend and request transfer information concerning admission.
Q: What is the cost involved for participation in the program?
A: There is a $20 non-refundable application fee and a $35 technology fee at Atlanta
Technical College. Both are waived for Dual Enrollment students. Students must meet the
eligibility requirements for the HOPE Grant or pay tuition and mandatory fees. The HOPE
Grant covers most fees, including books (or partial book fees). However, some programs
require additional costs: insurance, uniforms, and materials.
