Continuing Education Department
The Continuing Education Department’s mission is to develop short courses, workshops, and seminars for professional development and personal enrichment. Certified and experienced instructors are employed to assist in the development and execution of course competences specific to the instructional requests of business and industry. Customized and Contract Training
Customized training to fit the needs of business and industry is a large component of the Division of Economic Development focus. Workplace skills, equipment training, safety training, computer training, customer service, team building and much more can be integrated into modules and competencies that allow you to create your own training agenda specific to your company. American Heart Association Training
Center
Atlanta Technical College is home to one of the American Heart Association’s (AHA) Training Centers (TC). The Training Center offers approved (AHA) classes such as Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), Basic Life Support (BLS), Heart Saver Provider and more. Professional Assessment and
Certification Center
The mission of the Professional Assessment and Testing Center is to support the educational mission of the College by providing students, faculty and staff, and the community varied, high quality national and local testing opportunities. To this end, the Center promotes and maintains an atmosphere that is conducive to individual and group testing of placement, proficiency, certification and other exams. Georgia Fatherhood Program
The Georgia Fatherhood Program at Atlanta Technical College provides training and job placement services to unemployed and underemployed parents both male and female. Participants are recruited from key locations in the programs service area, including Atlanta, Fulton County, Clayton County, Fayette and Henry Counties.
Enrollees are required to attend a one week workshop that focus on Life Skills and Employability Skills. Guidance and counseling and resource development are a main stay of the program. Upon completion of the workshop, participants are directed to short-term or long-term skills trade credit courses or GED class room training. All participants are scheduled for the Georgia Work Ready Certification Test and are referred to the Georgia Department of Labor for additional employability and placement services . TANF GED and Vocational Assistance
Program
The TANF GED and Vocational Assistance Program at Atlanta Technical College provides training, supportive services, and job placement assistance to single parents, displaced homemakers, non-custodial parents, that are TANF recipients (Temporary Assistance to Needy Families) in Atlanta and Fulton County, Georgia. The goal of the program is to help individuals obtain their GED and to provide training that will assist citizens in our services area to move from government assistance to self-sufficiency through gainful employment opportunities.
