An Open Letter to the Community

Harold E. Craig, Vice President of Economic Development

I am extremely pleased that the Continuing Education Department is now a part of the Economic Development Division at Atlanta Technical College.

The primary role of the division is to serve business and industry, and I see continuing education as an important service available to them. It is through the college's Continuing Education Department that employees of business in Fulton County and the general public can take courses for professional growth. It is also my hope that our continuing education courses will become more accessible to the community. We will be looking toward offering more off-campus courses at and in collaboration with local schools, churches, community centers, libraries, etc.

It has been said, "people perish due to a lack of knowledge." Certainly, today with the rapid advancements in science, technology, and other fields, it is vitally important that we all obtain and share knowledge with one another. Now more than ever before, education must be seen as a lifelong process, necessary for our survival and the survival of our families and communities. Therefore, continuing education should be viewed as being essential to our future.
